They\u2019re also useful for putting on luggage when you\u2019re going on an airplane or for putting on your children\u2019s coats if they\u2019re starting to go out alone. Here\u2019s how to share AirTag with family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Is AirTag?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So, what is this AirTag we\u2019re talking about? Well, this is a small, round tracker that can be attached to luggage, bags and keys. They\u2019re around the size of a quarter and you can fit them into keyring holders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can locate the AirTag (and, therefore, the item it\u2019s attached to) by using the \u2018Find My\u2019 app. This makes AirTag quite popular among users, and 42 percent<\/a> of them note its reliability as their favorite characteristic. When someone with an iPhone or Mac comes into range of your AirTag, its location will be updated. The range is around 33 feet. So, if you\u2019re going to the wilderness, it won\u2019t necessarily be useful as a tracker!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ufeffHow to Share an Airtag With Family<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thankfully, you can share AirTag tracking with more than one person. This means that multiple members of your family can track one AirTag. Here\u2019s how to share AirTag with family:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. On your iPad or iPhone, open the Find My<\/strong> app;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Tap on \u2018items<\/strong>\u2019 towards the bottom of the screen;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Select the AirTag from the list;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Tap \u2018Add People<\/strong>\u2019 within \u2018Share My Location<\/strong>\u2019;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Choose the person you want to share with from your contact list. You can also enter their email address here instead;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Select how much access you\u2019d like to give them. You can give them full access to the location of the AirTag, or you can tell them when the AirTag is found;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Then, tap on \u2018send<\/strong>.\u2019 This will be an invitation that they\u2019ll need to accept;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. When the invitation is accepted, the contact icon will appear in the \u2018shared with<\/strong>\u2019 section for the AirTag;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. Repeat for however many members of your family you\u2019d like to share it with. The maximum is five.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Can Multiple People Track an AirTag?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Thankfully, Apple AirTags can be tracked by up to five people. This means you can share AirTags with family. For example, you can have one AirTag that you use on luggage and everyone can use it when they go away on vacation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    However, if you\u2019re not on all Apple devices (iPhones, Macs, and iPads) then you won\u2019t be able to track the AirTag. For this reason, you might want to look at AirTag alternatives, which we\u2019ll discuss below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
